Die Kombination aus elektrischer Violine, E-Gitarre and Synthesizer mit Rogues charismatischem Gesang ergeben den charakteristischen Klang der Crüxshadows. Die komplexen Texte beziehen sich thematisch auf die ägyptische und griechische Mythologie, sowie auf christliche Themen. Obwohl die Band aus den USA stammt, hat sie vor allem in Europa, speziell in der deutschen Gothic- und Dark Wave-Szene, bislang ihren größten Erfolg. Nach einem Einstieg auf Position 5, blieb die Single Tears 8 Wochen in den Deutschen Alternative Charts (DAC).
