Selbst manche ihrer größten Hits haben die Australier seit über zwei Jahrzehnten nicht mehr gespielt - auf der Suche nach dem nächsten Horizont stellten sie sich stets neuen Herausforderungen. Viele dieser alten Juwelen kommen jetzt 2005 auf "El momento descuidado" zu neuem Glanz. Ein spontan entstandenes und in drei Tagen eingespieltes Akustikalbum, auf dem Songs aus der Bandgeschichte quasi neu erfunden werden. Gespickt mit fünf brandneuen Songs klingt die Platte mehr nach einem neuem The-Church-Album als nach Nostalgie. "Einfach ein unplugged-Album aufzunehmen, hätte für uns keinen Sinn gemacht", meint Bandchef Steve Kilbey, "wir wollten die Songs neu spüren und interpretieren."
